EMMY NOMINATION FOR SOCAL INSIDER

"SoCaL Insider with Rick Reiff" has been named a finalist for a Los Angeles Area Emmy award.

COSTA MESA, Calif. (June 20, 2013) --- "SoCaL Insider with Rick Reiff" has been named a finalist for a Los Angeles Area Emmy award. The show, produced by Rick Reiff and David Nazar, is one of three finalists in the category of Informational/Public Affairs Series (more than 50% studio-based.) The other finalists are KVEA's "Enfoque Los Angeles" and KCET's "SoCal Connected."

Besides "SoCaL Insider," PBS SoCaL-TV has one other Emmy finalist, Maria Hall-Brown's and Eric Kirsten's "Be Brave: Samantha's Story" in the Crime/Social Issues category.

The winners will be announced by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in August.

"SoCaL Insider," a collaboration of host Reiff and reporter Nazar, has won Golden Mike awards the past two years. Reiff, executive editor of the Orange County Business Journal, has three Golden Mike awards in all, in addition to a Pulitzer Prize. Nazar has six Golden Mikes and a prior Emmy nomination.

"SoCaL Insider" features interviews, panel discussions and in-depth field reports. It focuses on all six counties of the 19-million-strong Southland, reflecting PBS SoCaL's status as the PBS flagship station for the entire Los Angeles media market.
