Big Night for Inside OC: Four Awards and Lifetime Achievement
Laguna Beach, CA (June 14, 2018) – "Inside OC with Rick Reiff" was named Best TV News Program and won three other honors at the Orange County Press Club awards dinner tonight.
Show producer and host Rick Reiff also received the press club's Lifetime Achievement Award.
"Inside OC" is a public affairs program that airs weekly on PBS SoCal, KDOC and Cox.
Besides winning first place for Best TV News Program, "Inside OC" took first place in Best Sports Broadcast for its "After the Fall" episode featuring former star quarterback Todd Marinovich.
"Inside OC" finished second in the Best News Broadcast or Video category for its "Campus Conflict" show on the free speech controversy at Orange Coast Community College. It also took second place for Best Feature Broadcast or Video for "He Writes the Songs," an episode featuring songwriter Jack Tempchin.
The "Inside OC" team members listed on the entries were Reiff, Co-Producer Scott Hays, Director David Marquez, Editors Richard Garippo and Billy Trask, Makeup Artist Theany Teeth and Intern Janae Price.
Reiff's lifetime award recognized a journalism career that includes the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for general reporting that he shared at the Akron (Ohio) Beacon Journal, 28 years as editor, columnist and editor-at-large with the Orange County Business Journal and 14 years in local television.
