INSIDE OC GOES OUT WITH BANG: HOSTING
DEBATES IN TWO HIGH-STAKES HOUSE RACES

October 11, 2018 – Rick Reiff will end a 14-year run of local programming when he hosts candidate debates for two of the nation's most closely contested Congressional seats. The debates will be the final episodes of "Inside OC with Rick Reiff" and will air exclusively on PBS SoCal, the Southland's flagship PBS station, and on independent commercial station KDOC.

The first debate is the only scheduled meeting between incumbent Republican Dana Rohrabacher and Democratic challenger Harley Rouda for the coastal 48th District seat that includes Huntington Beach and parts of Costa Mesa, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. The second debate is between Democrat Gil Cisneros and Republican Young Kim for the 39th District being vacated by 13-term Republican Ed Royce. The district touches three counties, and includes Fullerton, Brea, Buena Park, Anaheim Hills and Diamond Bar.

"We will not go gentle into that good night," Reiff said. "I hate giving up the show, but I love going out in such newsworthy style. These are toss-up races that could be pivotal in determining not only control of Congress, but the fate of the Trump presidency."

KDOC will air the debates back-to-back in a one-hour special at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21. PBS SoCal 1 will also air the Rohrabacher-Rouda debate at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21. PBS SoCal 1 will air the Cisneros-Kim debate at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28.
